Teens accused of stealing car in Albany to appear in court

The teens accused of stealing a car in Albany on Monday are due back in court Thursday afternoon.

Nah-queviar Wright, 19, of Albany, and Malachi Annan, 18, have been charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property.

This began around 4:10 p.m. Monday, near Catherine Street and Oneida Street. Officers saw three teens inside a 2008 Mercedes Benz that had been reported stolen. One passenger left the car with a gun, but then got back in and took off.

Annan was previously arrested on a robbery charge on Sunday, Sept. 1 for allegedly displaying a BB gun and stealing $40 from a person around North Pearl and Steuben streets.

Wright was arraigned and bail set at $15,000 cash or bond. Annan was sent to Albany County Jail without bail.

The 16-year-old driver, whose name is not being released because of his age, was arraigned in Albany County Family Court on charges of reckless endangerment, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a weapon and traffic violations.
