Thoroughbred aftercare boost
Thoroughbred aftercare facilities in New York are getting a big boost. The New York State Thoroughbred Breeding and Development Fund raised more than $200,000 for aftercare facilities last year. A check presentation was held Tuesday night at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs. Aftercare facilities in New York provide a range of services to retired thoroughbreds, ranging from retraining to finding them sanctuary homes.
New York State Dairy Ambassador
A UAlbany graduate has been named the 2023-2024 New York State Dairy Ambassador. The announcement was made this week during an event in Syracuse. Arianna Aman will serve as a spokesperson and advocate for dairy farmers by attending special events to engage with and educate consumers on the nutritional benefits of milk and dairy foods and the importance of the dairy industry to the New York state economy.
Nickelodeon star coming to Albany
A DJ best known for his role on Nickelodeon’s “Victorious” is heading to Albany. DJ Matt Bennett will perform at Empire Live on May 6. He will be playing Disney and Nickelodeon hit songs. Bennett played the character Robbie Shapiro on the hit Nickelodeon show.
Jumpin’ Jacks sets March 30 opening date
Jumpin’ Jacks in Scotia is getting ready to open for the season. The restaurant says it hopes to have the first burgers frying on the grill on March 30. You can also enjoy fries, ice cream and more at the staple on the shore of the Mohawk River.
