There’s a new restaurant in Guilderland located on the Western Turnpike Golf Course.
The owner, Donavan Kenney, wants everyone to know The Hedge Bistro isn’t only open for golfers.
“I want people to come out and give us a try,” Kenney said. “Whether you play golf or not, just come out, have a good time, have a couple of drinks, have some good food.”
For Kenney, opening this restaurant feels like a full circle moment. Kenney is in his 30th year as a chef, but nearly 2 decades ago, he worked in the same kitchen he owns now.
“About 18 years ago, I started working in that kitchen right back there that I now have the lease and own and do business here,” Kenney explained.
With 6,000 square feet of event space like dance floors, and bridal sweets, Kenney wants The Hedge Bistro to return to the place it used to be.
“It was a robust and thriving business, not only in the restaurant side, but also with catered events” Kenney added. “Whether it was Guilderland High School awards ceremony, or it was wedding receptions, or 50th wedding anniversaries, or whatever the case may be, it was just a very busy place to be.”
Kenney said the kitchen opens at 11:00 am, and the restaurant stays open until customers stop coming in. He also added, later down the road The Hedge Bistro will have karaoke, trivia night, and live music.
