The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society says it is in a crisis.
There is a desperate need for people to start opening their homes and adopting animals, the shelter said. If people don’t start coming in and adopting, the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society may have to euthanize some animals.
The shelter has seen a significant increase in the number of animals being brought in and that it’s desperate for the public’s help.
“It’s been bad for a while, and we are basically at a tipping point where if we don’t get more animals adopted or transferred out, we’re going to have to make some heartbreaking decisions.” Said CEO Ashley Bouck.
Animals younger than one year old have an adoption fee of $100, while animals older than one have an adoption fee of $50.
Mohawk Hudson Humane Society has also added extra adoption hours for this week:
Tuesday, August 15 through Friday, August 18: 12 p.m. to 6:30p.m.
Saturday, August 19: 10 a.m. to 6p.m.
Sunday, August 20: 10 a.m. to 2p.m.
