Third person arrested in connection to June 2024 homicide in Albany.

Police have arrested a third person in connection with a homicide last June in Albany.

Fabian Martinez-Reyes, 20, was picked up in Port Jefferson by members of the Albany Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Task Force.

Martinez-Reyes is accused of killing 24-year-old Abel Vasques-Bautista. The incident happened on June 3 around 3:40 a.m.

Officers responded to Washington Avenue and Quail Street and found a 25-year-old man with a stab wound to the back. Another person at the scene said there was a victim on the 400 block of Washington Avenue who was unconscious and unresponsive, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office.

Police found Vasques-Bautista with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to Albany Medical center and pronounced dead.

Martinez-Reyes has been charged with second-degree and first-degree gang assault. He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and sent to Albany County Jail.
