Third person indicted in Albany barbershop killing
A third person has been indicted in the killing at a barbershop in Albany in May 2023.
Samir Princeton, 20, of Albany, is accused of fatally shooting Tryone Staley, 47, who was cutting hair inside the Village Barber and Beauty on Second Street on May 13, 2023. A 19-year-old man and 9-year-old boy were also hit in the shooting and survived.
In addition, Princeton allegedly conspired with two other people in the killing and tried to cause the death of two other people, the Albany County District Attorney’s Office said.
Princeton was arraigned on charges of second-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon and conspiracy. He was sent to Albany County Jail pending a formal bail application. Princeton is due back in court on June 24 at 9:30 a.m.
Also charged in the case are Dejoune Smith, 19 and Timmoure Miller.
The 9-year-old boy was the grandson of Reginald Graham, the owner of the barbershop and a pastor. Graham told NewsChannel 13 previously that he believes that the target of the shooting was outside the barbershop and took cover in the shop.
