Three dead after Greene County crash

Three people are dead after a head-on crash Saturday in Greene County.

The crash happened just before 5 p.m. on state Route 23 in the area of Cross Road in the town of Windham. A Buick SUV driven by Dennis Hitchcock, 76, of Windham, was heading east on Route 23, when it collided with a westbound truck driven by Dennis Rodriguez, 59, of Jewett, according to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.

Two passengers in Hitchcock’s vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene – 75-year-old Deborah Hitchcock and 51-year-old William Hitchcock, who are both from Windham.

Dennis Hitchcock and a 52-year-old Stephanie Hitchcock, also of Windham, were taken to Albany Medical Center. Stephanie later died from her injuries.

The crash is under investigation.
