Three more correction officers rejected plea offers Tuesday in the deadly beating of inmate Robert Brooks last year.

Brooks was beaten inside Marcy Correctional Facility on Dec. 9. Body camera footage showed correction officers punching and kicking Brooks, holding him down and grabbing his collar. Other staff members were seen watching the assault. Brooks had injuries to his head, neck and chest and died the following day.

Nicholas Kieffer rejected an offer to plea guilty to second-degree gang assault. The prosecution’s offer was 12 years in state prison.

Anthony Farina and David Kingsley turned down offers to plead guilty to second-degree murder in exchange for a recommended maximum sentence of 18 years to life in state prison. The minimum sentence they would receive under the statute is 25 years to life.

All three are due back in Oneida County Court on June 3.
