Time capsule found in base of Philip Schuyler Statue

The statue of general Philip Schuyler was removed from outside Albany City Hall Saturday morning.
The plans to remove it were announced by Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan exactly 3 years ago.
The historic statue had been there for nearly 100 years.

Before crews started the process to move the statue, they were made aware of a time capsule that was buried beneath the base of the monument and it was found Saturday.

Crews carefully removed the time capsule, and the artifacts are now going to the city historian for safekeeping.
