Statute of limitations extended to 3 years for discrimination
A new law takes effect in New York Thursday extending the statute of limitations to sue for unlawful discrimination.
Gov. Kathy Hochul said people who experience discrimination will now have three years to file a complaint with the Division of Human Rights.
The previous length of time was one year.
Hochul said this will create an environment that makes survivors feel safe and protected.
