Tree falls home on Hudson Falls

The family has owned the home since the 1980'S

Big storms moved through parts of the North Country on Tuesday.

NewsChannel 13 received several photos and damage reports, flooding in Lake George, hail in Guilderland and a tree down on a home on Walnut Street in Hudson Falls.

A mom and three sons were home at the time. Another person also lives in the home but was not there when the tree struck.

“I hear like cracking noises and the roof just caves in on me,” Saivon Terry said.

Terry said he just got home from school at 2:18pm, put his bookbag down and went to relax in his room. Minutes later, the tree landed on the roof above his bed!

“I started running too. I dropped everything. I dropped my glasses because it got knocked off my face, I threw my phone. I just ran.”

His older brother, Aaron Peavy said he was in the living room having a conversation with their mom when Saivon rush in covered in dust and debris.

“We just hear all the storm sounds. She’s talking about the hail and i’m like, ‘that’s not hail…that’s our house!’ and then we see the windows back there get blown out.”

Pink slips were posted on the front door and back gate of the home, deeming it unsafe.

The brothers consoled their mother as she cried; knowing she can’t afford to fix the home, if that’s a possibility.

Mom did not want to speak on camera, but she did tell NewsChannel 13 her family has owned the home on Walnut St. since the 1980’s.

“Our great grandma owned this house,” Aaron said. “There used to be a juxe box in the middle hallway and we used to play there all the time but now that wall is gone!”

The Red Cross is now helping the family and a GoFundMe has been set up: Fundraiser by Monica Moss : Help Crystal get into new home after disaster (gofundme.com)
