Troy community gathers in hopes of saving birthing center

There was another organized gathering on Wednesday evening, aimed at preventing the Burdett Birthing Center from closing.

Samaritan Hospital announced in June its labor and delivery unit would be closing. It’s the only one in Rensselaer County.

Former Burdett workers were at the night’s meeting. They argued that taking away the birth center in a low-income community will put lives in danger.
