The events this week include a movie viewing, African drumming, and arts and crafts for the kids.
The big celebration is at Riverfront Park on Wednesday.
Juneteenth will be a day to celebrate and educate, according to Jerry Ford Jr., vice president of Troy NAACP.
However, he also said African Americans haven’t yet reached what he calls “true freedom” and have a long way to go.
