Troy man gets 10 years in prison for robbery of victim lured through dating app

A Troy man was sentenced on Friday to 10 years in prison for trying to rob a person who was lured through an online dating app.

William Camino, 19, was arrested in March with two other people.

Police said the victim was meeting up with a woman who he met online on Western Avenue in Guilderland. That proved to be a ruse, and he was robbed.

Camino showed a loaded 9mm pistol during the robbery, according to police.

Camino pleaded guilty in Alban y County Court last month to first-degree attempted robbery.
