Troy man sentenced to 25 years to life in wife’s murder

A Troy will be going to jail for 25 years to life for strangling his wife to death.
Taquan Evans, 37, was sentenced in Rensselaer County Court on Friday morning.
A jury found Evans guilty of murder in the second-degree in May.
He was accused of killing Georlasia Evans in Troy in January 2021.
The jury deliberated for one day, and 20 witnesses testified.

Rensselaer County District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly has been focused on justice for Evans and her family, she said, and hopes this sentence brings them some comfort.
