Two Bennington County residents face charges after fight at Dollar General

Two people are facing charges after a fight at a Dollar General in Bennington County.

Vermont State Police responded to the store in the town of Pownal at about 5:49 p.m. on Monday for a report of a fight involving several people. An investigation determined that a verbal argument began in the store and spread outside into a physical altercation.

Police arrested Shawn Mateo, 43, and Brianna Lown, 26, both of Pownal, and charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct. They received tickets and are due to appear in Vermont Superior Court on Jan. 22.
