UAlbany students launch weather balloons during eclipse
Some UAlbany students and researchers witnessed totality in Fort Drum, celebrating the occasion with a balloon launch. It’s part of a balloon launch project sponsored by NASA and the National Science Foundation.
UAlbany launched weather balloons in Fort Drum for the eclipse.
The weather balloons will provide data, including temperature, wind speed direction, as well as pressure and relative humidity.
NASA also did some drone launches of their own.
Learn more about the project leading up to this eclipse, and how the data will be used, by watching the video of First Warning Meteorologist Reid Kisselback’s story.
