Update from National Grid on restoring service following tropical system Debby’s impacts
National Grid has released an update Saturday morning regarding the timeline of restoration of service, following the impacts the remnants of tropical system Debby on New York State.
They say they continue to work around-the-clock to restore service and clean up after heavy rains and damaging winds impacted the area.
National Grid says they have restored power to more than 78,000 of 92,000 affected customers.
They say local officials and emergency responders continue to coordinate with them on restoration efforts, including removing debris.
Officials from National Grid say the hardest hit areas in Eastern New York include Fulton, Hamilton, Saratoga, Schenectady, Columbia, Rensselaer, Essex, Warren, and Washington counties.
National Grid says most of their customers are expected to have power restored by 11:30 p.m. Saturday, and isolated and scattered single-customer outages in harder to access areas may have outages extended into Sunday.
Senior Director of New York Electric Operations, Kyle Bentley, released this statement:
“The safety of our employees and customers is our top priority. Our crews are facing hazardous conditions as they work to clear away debris and gain access to repair damage and restore power. We will do everything within our control to complete restoration as quickly and as safely as possible.”
