Warning to report any price gouging after severe weather
Many residents who lost power may have had to pick up water, gasoline, flashlights, batteries, and other items to get through the storm.
That is why Attorney General Letitia James is warning New York businesses about price gouging following this severe weather.
The state’s price gouging statute prevents businesses from selling essential goods or services at an excessively higher price during emergencies.
If you see higher than normal prices on any essential items, you are asked to report it to the State Attorney General’s Office.
