Watervliet Police warn of potential sightings of two bears

Watervliet Police are warning the public of a potential sighting of two bears.

The police department’s drone observed the activity in a wooded area near St. Peters Armenian Church during a training exercise to test their thermal imaging capabilities.

Residents are urged to take precautions to reduce the chances of attracting bears. These include:

• Using bear-proof trash cans or keeping garbage cans inside until collection;
• Removing bird feeders because bears are drawn to seeds;
• Avoiding leaving food outside.
