Two area Girl Scouts are getting special recognition for giving back to their community.

Molly and Fiona from Girl Scout Troop 3006 in Queensbury built a “buddy bench” for Minerva Central School. This earned them the Bronze Award.

The Girl Scouts said they wanted students to have a place to sit if they needed a friend.

They even added a communication board so anyone could communicate, even if they don’t have the words.

The girls said building this bench helped them learn about woodworking, time management and teamwork.
