Another woman welcomed at US District Court for the Northern District of NY
During this Women’s History Month, another woman is being sworn in to the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York.
Judge Anne Nardacci will be sworn in by U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on Friday at the federal courthouse in Downtown Albany. Nardacci was born in raised in Albany. Her swearing in makes the court a majority women bench among active judges for the first time in history.
Pittsfield wellness clinics
The city of Pittsfield is starting free monthly wellness clinics. The first one is the first Tuesday in April at the Froio Senior Center on North Street. You can get screenings for diabetes, hypertension, along with COVID guidance. No appointments are necessary.
Waterford-Halfmoon students collect shoes for orphanages
Students in the Waterford-Halfmoon Union Free School District are trying to collectively donate 5,000 pairs of shoes to send to orphanages in Costa Rica and Africa. It’s part of Kindness Month. The shoe donation drive is Saturday, March 11 at the school campus. Anyone can donate. The idea came after a speech by Think Kindness founder Brian Williams to the school community.
Maple products spotlighted in Adirondacks
The Adirondacks Welcome Center in Queensbury is highlighting nearly two-dozen New York maple products at the Taste NY Market. This includes maple candy, maple jam, maple tea, maple BBQ sauce and maple infused cheese.
The weekend of March 24 will be a maple festival.
Saratoga County chef gets big role in Washington
Master Chef Dale Miller from Saratoga County is taking on a new role in Washington. He was appointed by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s team to the Kitchen Cabinet. He will assist with the relaunch of the Culinary Diplomatic Partnership, a program that uses food and hospitality to enhance formal diplomacy. Miller is one of 10 chefs on the Kitchen Cabinet. He is one of 69 U.S. certified master chefs. He is the president of Master Chef Consulting Group. Miller has been the chef at many well-known restaurants, including his own restaurant, called Dale Miller in Albany.
