Albany County urging vaccinations against measles to provide her immunity.
The Albany County Department of Health is joining the call to get more people vaccinated against measles.
This comes after four cases were discovered in New York state – three in New York City and one in Suffolk County. Health officials are warning that the outbreak across multiple states in Canada could easily spread to our area.
Measles, of course, is highly contagious and can lead to life threatening complications.
Vaccination rates in Albany County fall below the recommended level needed to provide strong community protection, also known as herd immunity.
