The Village of Menands is encouraging people to donate to life.

The nonprofit organization Donate Life raised a flag at the flagpole located at the traffic island right outside NewsChannel 13 in Menands to raise awareness of the lifesaving impact made by organ, eye and tissue donors.
The hope is that the Donate Life flag will encourage people to enroll in New York’s Donation Registry.

Nearly 8,500 New Yorkers remain on the national organ transplant waitlist.

A single organ donor can save up to eight lives.
