Schumer calls on FDA to address medication shortages
Sen. Chuck Schumer is calling on the FDA to act fast to avoid a shortage of critical medications.
The Senate Majority Leader says more than 295 critical drugs, from cancer to everyday generics are in short supply.
He says those shortages are rapidly increasing by 30%.
Schumer is asking the FDA to activate a plan to address the shortages, and Congress to take action to protect patients and doctors here in New York and across the country.
