New York Transco has announced the energization of the New York Energy Solution. It’s a 55-mile clean energy transmission project in the Capital Region and Hudson Valley.

A ceremonial ribbon cutting was held last week in Rensselaer County.

The NYES project will play a critical role in helping New York meet clean energy goals – including 70% renewable energy generation by 2030 and a zero-emissions electricity sector by 2040.

The project completely rebuilt an existing transmission corridor through portions of Rensselaer, Columbia and Dutchess counties.

The new line and new and upgraded substations are all on existing utility-owned lands.

The project was finished six months ahead of schedule, according to New York Transco.
