Woman hurt in Mayfield snowmobile crash; Patrol vehicle totaled while responding

A woman was injured in a snowmobile crash in the town of Mayfield on Tuesday afternoon. A sheriff’s patrol vehicle was totaled in a separate crash while racing to the scene.
The snowmobile crash happened on Tolmantown Road, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office said.
The operator was riding alone in her vehicle, when it went off the trail, investigators said. She was injured, but conscious and alert.
A family member she was riding with helped until first responders arrived. The woman was flown to Albany Medical Center.
The sergeant who crashed had the lights and sirens on and was trying to pass a vehicle, investigators said. The other driver tried to turn left into the Mobil gas station on Route 30 just north of School Street.
The sergeant tried to avoid the crash, but the vehicles collided. The sheriff’s car severed a power pole around 10 feet and up.
Investigators plan to release more information at a later time, they said.
