Rep. Lee Zeldin, the Republican nominee for governor in New York, is pushing the need to eliminate cashless bail.
He spoke about the issue at a news conference less than a week after a man jumped on stage at a political rally and tried to stab him. The suspect, David Jakubonis, was released six hours later.
Zeldin has been very critical of his release and the general rise in crime across the state.
