On the eve of the primary election, the presumptive front-runner in the GOP gubernatorial race made a stop in Albany.
Lee Zeldin is no stranger to the city of Albany. He is a graduate of the University at Albany and Albany Law School.
He says he is confident he and his running mate, Allison Esposito, will be able to make Albany their home over the next four years.
Esposito is a former New York City police captain from Brooklyn. She has been traveling around the state with him, hammering home what they believe is a key issue in the campaign: law and order.
Once again, Zeldin says he feels “very good” about the outcome of Tuesday’s upcoming Republican primary with the caveat: as long as they get their voters out to the polls.
A recent poll conducted by NewsChannel 13 and SurveyUSA indicated as recently as a week ago, 31% of the primary voters were still undecided over who’d they be voting for. The same poll gave Zeldin a narrow 2% lead over GOP rival Andrew Giuliani — well within the margin of error.
Zeldin said Monday he believes his lead is much more substantial than that. He also says he believes he has his finger on the pulse of New Yorkers.
