Police: Eight people injured in crash
Police: Eight people injured in crash near Crossgates Mall.
Eight people were hurt, three critically, after a two-vehicle crash near the Crossgates Mall ramp on Sunday.
State Police responded to the Northway near the ramp at around 7:20 p.m. for a report of a crash.
Investigators found a car was traveling on the off-ramp when it failed to navigate a curve and went through the guiderail, off the overpass and landed on the two left northbound lanes, police said.
A northbound SUV struck the car, which caused the SUV to overturn.
Four people were in each vehicle, police said. All eight were taken to Albany Medical Center. Three people were listed in critical condition, police said.
All Northbound lanes and the Crossgates Mall ramp were closed for about eight hours for the investigation, removal of the vehicles and repairs. They have since reopened.
The investigation is ongoing, and police had no other information on the conditions of the victims.
