Gillibrand introduces bill for free breakfast, lunch and dinner for kids

With kids back in school, U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand has announced a bill to provide free breakfast, lunch, and dinner to all schoolchildren.

It’s called the Universal School Meals Program Act.

It aims to provide free meals, regardless of income.

The bill would also expand access to free meals over the summer and eliminate school meal debt.

“Studies show that when students have access to free school meals, they do better in school. They have better attendance rates, they have better health, and they have fewer behavioral incidents, and reduced suspensions,” Gillibrand said.
