New York State United Teachers is making sure that graduating seniors have a step up on their next steps after high school.

NYSUT locals across the state have donated around $2.4 million for college scholarships.

The money was raised through donations, dress-down days, chicken BBQs, basket raffles, and other events throughout the year.

Many of the scholarships go towards people who want to teach or work in technical trades.

Seniors in the Capital Region were awarded more than $100,000.
