Report finds elevated lead in some Shenendehowa schools
Multiple schools in the Shenendehowa Central School District have elevated levels of lead in their water.
Now the district is taking steps to make sure no students or staff are affected, they said.
Tests revealed high levels of lead at every school sampled except for Shatekon Elementary, according to a report on the district’s website.
New regulations have put a tighter limit on the amount of lead that is acceptable.
Most of the affected areas are sinks, according to the report.
The district has posted signs on all the affected faucets and is working to replace pipes, it said.
