Young Schenectady DJ hitting it big at just 8 years old
At the rate a young Schenectady girl is progressing, her talents as a DJ could soon land her on a big stage performing for thousands of people.
Despite being just 8 years old, Amelia Lauzon has become quite the little entertainer.
Amelia fell in love with DJing at the age of 3, when she saw other people doing it on social media. Her mom noticed, encouraged her over the years, and eventually helped introduce her to a professional DJ.
That professional, who goes by DJ Intell Hayesfield, took Amelia under his wing. After learning how to build beats, edit songs, and pump up the crowd, Amelia quickly started doing her own shows.
“When my friends find out, they’re like, ‘Wow! You’re so good. I didn’t know you could do that!’” Amelia said.
Now at the age of 8, you can find “DJ Amelia” performing at public events, birthday parties, and other venues around the Capital Region.
While most kids her age are working on their soccer kicks, or beating high scores in video games, Amelia is winning over crowds with her DJ sets.
When her mother, Quoida Lauzon, discovered that Amelia moved to a different groove than most kids her age, she helped her daughter embrace it.
“I think a lot of kids aren’t doing this, obviously, but if a child is interested in something or sees something, it’s leaning into that and allowing them to explore that avenue,” Quoida said. “I think the sky is the limit.”
Despite being just 8 years old, Amelia has become quite the little entertainer. She and her mother currently have their eyes set on future large-scale events. They hope to make an announcement soon.
