Jury selection began Tuesday in the case of Kyisha Smith.

Smith is accused of stabbing and killing James West at South Mall Towers on South Pearl Street back in May 2023.

West was found in an eighth-floor hallway with a stab wound to the neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

She pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder.

Prosecutors have labeled this as domestic in nature.

Opening arguments are expected to begin on Wednesday.
