A body pulled from the Mohawk River last week in Schenectady is missing teen Samantha Humphrey. Police made that announcement Monday afternoon.
The 14-year-old girl disappeared in that area on Nov. 25. She was headed to Riverside Park to meet up with an ex-boyfriend. Not long after, her jacket was discovered by the river in the area near where she was last seen.
Her body was pulled from the Mohawk River last Wednesday afternoon, after which family members were told, “The search for Samantha is over.”
Police said last week they would likely reveal information Monday on the autopsy performed on the body.
NewsChannel 13 reported last Wednesday that the body was discovered inside a shopping cart. Police have not confirmed that information. Assuming sources are correct, that would seem to indicate police have a homicide investigation on their hands.
Over the course of the last three months, police have not spoken publicly about any suspects.
